Week of December 30-January 1

If you haven’t started off the week with a New Moon ceremony, revision, intention or acknowledgement, start there. You’ve got a few days to call in what you intend to build this year. (See the New Moon Capricorn scroll).

We have two big events in addition to that, and they’re both on January 2:

January 2 - Venus moves to Pisces, the sign of her exaltation -- Venus, the planet of abundance, connection, beauty, attraction, creativity, and romantic relationships shares this space, the 12th house, with Saturn and Neptune. Venus is leaving Aquarius (at the final degrees) through Wednesday, so that energy may feel tired...it’s ending something. This is an ending and a beginning. For Thursday, think: friendship, love, relationship, art. Indulge in the stuff of life. Embrace principles of relationship and connection. Venus is on our side this week. The part of your chart that contains Pisces is extra blessed. Keep in mind, (more later), that Venus goes retrograde on March 1. That means that on January 28-29, she begins her pre-retrograde shadow. Enjoy this next 3-4 weeks of Venus’ forward-moving energy, and prepare to unite with the collective in action at the end of the month. Stay tuned.

Also, Thursday, January 2 -  Mars Rx in Leo opposes Pluto in Aquarius. This is the second opposition in this round. Last was November 3 (Mars in Cancer, Pluto in Capricorn), the next, third, and final in this cycle will be April 26 (Pluto in Aquarius, Mars in Leo). It is in different signs, so it may manifest differently for your personal life. Globally, it’s part of the same story and subterranean power dynamic. Mars is at the mid-point of its retrograde now—intense. We’re halfway through. This aspect is deep, dark and funky; Mars = action and battle and aggression.  This signature is tension and the unearthing of something that is difficult to deal with. Possible power play connected to November 3. Hefty and extreme. It’s a rough start to the year. Beware a power grab or an attempt to steal something. Do not let the chaos steal your energy and connection to agency. (Mars Rx in Leo is about leadership). Consider how your energy gets stolen. Redirect, refocus, and remember the power of connectivity and relationship coming through Venus in Pisces. 

Get grounded in your determination to carry out the things you can, here and now. Try not to dwell on what might happen. Stay with the moments that we do have some power, some control, some authority within. Work as practically as possible.

Sun sextile Saturn at the end of the week on Saturday, January 4. It’s imbued by Monday’s new moon -- structure, discipline, boundaries. It’s a nice time to solidify longer term plans and situations.

There’s no Pluto in this Capricorn New Moon for the first time in over 16 years. It’s a clean slate since it’s not obscured by the planet of rebirth and transformation. Take a beat, touch grass, touch rocks, touch snow.
