I am sitting in a cafe, sharing the goods on the New Moon in Taurus to a new friend standing in front of me. The woman to my left, leans over.
"Excuse me, I don't mean to be rude, but I'd love to hear more about this."
I shift so I can explain to both people. A few minutes later, the person to my right leans over, and apologizes for interrupting.
"I heard you say something about Taurus, do you mind if I listen also?” I continue, addressing all three of them.
"Lex!" my friend Julia and owner of the coffee shop shouts. "A little louder for the people in the back!"
I say I'm sure not everyone wants to hear this. All the customers and baristas turn and nod enthusiastically. Yes, they do.
Fast forward a few months, and on the customer-facing side of the espresso machine, a bucket holds a few colorful scrolls, each with the low-down on a different angle, signature or aspect. Weaving my insights, combined with those of Chani Nicholas, Jana Roemer and Chris Corsini give these customers something interesting to read while they wait.
Lex is a wellness advocate and practitioner of mindfulness, yoga and astrology, sprinkled in with a little sleep hygiene and novice Feng Shui. She’s a journalist, content strategist and audience engagement editor by day.
As a single parent, Lex has mastered weaving mindfulness into her day; it’s part of her routine. Her twice-daily yoga practice began over two decades ago. It’s not perfection, it’s a necessity. Engaging in meditation for just as long has facilitated her ability to adult. It’s about function, not form.
Lex was obsessed with sun signs in high school, then graduated to doing basic astrology birth charts as her bar trick in college. She gave it up after one astrology book in particular influenced her decision to break up with the love of her life (not her best move).
An intuit and synthesizer by nature, Lex remained connected to the healing arts and mindfulness meditation regardless. As an English Language Arts teacher, she used mindfulness, meditation and yoga in the classroom. Even the parents of her AP Language and Composition students did not mind. She has presented internationally on using mindfulness in the classroom, and refined her techniques attending workshops at Thanyapura in Phuket, Thailand.
In 2020, astrology re-entered her life through a live meditation with Jana Roemer on Insight Timer. Then, at the end of 2021, Briar Jacques handed her her complete natal chart. That ushered in a new era of Lex seeing the self as a whole as opposed to unintegrated parts. Cue the revelations.
Lex embraces astrology as a tool—much like meditation and yoga. She follows and adheres to the work of Chani Nicholas, Jana Roemer (Attune to the Moon) and Chris Corsini. As opposed to a series of horoscopes that attempt to prescribe one’s day, she uses astrology to time personal growth and align with the energy of the Universe.
