New Moon Capricorn
December 30
The new beginnings keep coming. New Moon in Capricorn shows up and shows out at the perfect time this year. Nine days after the Solstice, right before the New Year, she's here to be helpful. Not a super moon, but a super-useful new moon. Productive is the word of the day, night and month(with rest).
Like the Sun in Capricorn, we're looking to this new moon to get grounded. A new season, a new year on the Gregorian calendar. Sun and Moon are aligned in the sign of the SeaGoat right now.
It may be time for some major reviews. What worked? What didn’t? Can you distill this down to what the year has taught you? What doubts and fears hold you back? What keeps you from stepping into your power? Take whatever worked, bring it with you. Shed whatever no longer serves you—that’s what new moons are for. Step. Into. Your. Power.
Capricorn is about consolidation and contraction. Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn and this new moon. So—boundaries. The moon naturally prefers fertility and generativity. However, this New moon is exceptionally constructive and useful for us thinking long-term, and the hard work and discipline it will take to achieve the vision. Discipline is what feels uncomfortable today, but will make things easier tomorrow; not having discipline means things are easier today and harder tomorrow. Consider: What are the resources I have access to and how can I make them function best?
This is a structural new moon. It’s for thinking about the season and year ahead. It’s another way to reflect on seeds planted on the solstice. What future aligns with your highest self? What intention are you planting?
What do you want between now and the Equinox? What are you building towards? What action can you do at the beginning of today, beginning of the week, beginning of whatever time frame to start to build towards that?
This is our first new moon in Capricorn without Pluto, the sign of death, rebirth and the underworld, in the sign since 2008. So it may feel a little bit different, let’s see. This will be specific to the part of your natal chart that contains Capricorn.
If any of your big three (sun, moon and rising) are in any of the following four signs, pay attention: Aries, Capricorn, Cancer, Libra. This year is a major opportunity to reset and liberate.
This New moon is sextile Saturn, and sextiles are supportive. It’s also sextile Neptune—let your imagination roam—freely!
